Douglas started in the TV & Film industry back in 2009 as a sound recordist & dubbing mixer working on feature films, shorts & programmes like The Only Way Is Essex & Britain’s Got Talent. After four years as a freelancer he took the opportunity to further his knowledge of post production by working in an online/grading specialist MCR at Prime Focus. During his years at both Prime Focus & then at The Farm Group, Douglas was lucky to work on a range of different editing & grading equipment & software on a plethora of genres from comedy to documentary, entertainment to drama. On leaving The Farm Group in 2017, Douglas returned to freelance work, where he operates within both the video and audio fields, fulfilling the roles of editor, assistant editor, dubbing mixer or sound recordist, depending on requirements.

| 2015 - 2017 | Senior Edit Assistant The Farm Group As a senior operator Douglas was responsible for making deliverable files, working on conforms & dealing with VT operations. He is familiar with all the major channels' delivery specs (& some international including the USA). He has worked with all major file formats & used a number of delivery methods. Here he also had the opportunity to expand his software knowledge base to include Nucoda & Da Vinci Resolve. As well as assisting the online & grading suites, Douglas also provided support to the offline, VFX & audio suites which helped his troubleshooting skills grow. | ||
| 2013 - 2015 | Edit Assistant Prime Focus Starting as a runner, Douglas worked his way up to the online & grade assist machine room where he assisted in Avid Symphony, Avid DS & Baselight suites. He was taught to conform, pregrade & create AS11 deliverable files. He also handled the laybacks to tape. Using VT decks was a big part of his job. He trained with colourists & online editors to enhance his knowledge & he also trained in engineering to understand the wiring of the department & how to patch various pieces of equipment. | ||
| 2009 - 2013 | Sound Recordist & Dubbing Mixer Freelance After heavy investment in equipment, Douglas started recording & mixing for independent short films and advertising. He was involved in several shorts for the Tango 'Argh' campaign and also produced soundscapes and interactive FX for O2's Halloween drive. He has produced promotional material for Talk Sport and both Exeter & Reading Universities. Douglas has also mixed & mastered one and recorded three feature films. He has access to a stereo & 5.1 mixing suite and is fully equipped as a sound recordist, with up to 5 radio mics plus boom and a Sound Devices 664 tying the kit together. | ||
