Having worked in the post production industry for many years Alistair has been lucky enough to see the industry flourish and move forward. He has gained experience from working in dynamic edit environments which has allowed him to not only gain in depth operational Avid knowledge but significant understanding of file based formats, codecs, workflows and technologies. He is also happy to work on Adobe Premiere.

His skills also include conforming, digitising, DVD Authoring, VT, Unity ISIS Storage maintenance & management, Interplay management and EditShare to delivery & encoding to a high broadcast standard for over 300 successful productions using AVID Media Composer, Adrenaline, DS, Symphony, Nitris, Cinergy and AS11 creation using Cinedeck.

With good customer awareness and excellent interpersonal skills his ability to react tactfully and sympathetically to requests from production staff and clients in stressful situations makes Alistair a great addition to any editing team.

Over the last couple of years as freelance, Alistair has worked in a number of different and exciting editing environments, from the Dubai world cup which was a live sporting event and time dependent operation to Roland Garros, managing media. He has had the opportunity to work on a number of Rig based entertainment programmes such as The Voice and First Dates. Since going into the freelance world Alistair has enjoyed the challenges the position brings and always looks forward to the new challenges the industry throws at him.

OR Media - Technical Operations / Freelance:  March to September 2016
While at OR Media Alistair was responsible for daily server and client maintenance checks and monitoring, administration of all post production services including Interplay, technical support and guidance for all production disciplines.

BT Sport - Senior Technical Operator: June 2013 - March 2016
Based in the Edit support department, Alistair's role was to support and optimise the performance of all media workflows and editing systems at BT Sport, which comprised of 25 Media Composer suites and 2 Adobe Premiere suites. While at BT he gained knowledge and experience of supporting and trouble shooting Avid Interplay and EVS IPD systems, in depth knowledge of file based formats, codecs, workflows and technologies. It was also the chance to learn about reviewing, enhancing and implementing improved working practices for colleagues where it benefited the evolving needs of the client working very closely with the engineering support teams to complete regular system checks and scheduled maintenance tasks.

The Mews -  Senior Techincal Operator: March 2012 to June 2013
Responsibilities included coordinating & running 13 Avid suites, liaising with clients from a number of different production companies as well as implementing new work-flows for how jobs should be completed, with the ability to pass this information onto third parties in a way that they would understand.

The Station - Senior Technical Operator: February to May 2012
Gained more hands on experience of tapeless formats & maintained 11 Avid suites as well as supporting the clients on a day to day basis.

Input Media - Operational Supervisor: April 2015 - February 2012
Managed client workspaces on AVID Unity ISIS Storage & Interplay, agreeing regular retention/deletion of captured and incoming media. Working with tapeless content and devising work flows based on clients requirements. Supervised team of edit assistants (allocating and prioritising work, monitoring completion to deadlines, liaising with clients, resolving staff queries). Devised handover template for edit assistants improving communication at shift handover and to clients.

Two Four Broadcast - Assistant MCR Manager: February 2002 - April 2005
Responsibilities were to look after the operation and smooth running of eleven Avid Adrenaline suites, two Avid soft suites, one Avid Express Mojo, one Avid Nittris with two Final Cut Pro suites. The above suites were linked together to a central machine room, which included a number of different deck formats including, DVCAM, BETACAM SP DIGITAL BETACAM and HDCAM SR. This all allowed Alistair to gain enormous technical knowledge over the years. Also responsible for digitising, conforming, sync pulling, creating AAF’s, OMFIs, EDL’s, WAV’s and QuickTime movies.
